I no longer have a "single" website I'm proud of that we have created. I have several. All of my 'favorites' have one thing in common, the desire the jeweler had to work with us and listen to our suggestions. The outcome is impressive-looking websites. Just as the jewelers have relationships with their clients, I think it's very important to have a relationship with us. And not just think of us as "the people who made my website" and the relationship ends. The more we get to know their attitude, their business strategy, and their sense of humor the easier it is to create a masterpiece for them.
I will always be in 'love' with Bell Jewelers. Lisa knew she wanted something different and took several crazy photos for me to get the feel of her store. I love the details on that site, maybe nobody would notice them if they haven't visited her store, but I love how we used the stain glass from their door as small details swirls around the site.
Next on my list is Barnes Jewelers. Barnes started out just like other jewelers picking templates and colors and sending us text. When a few photos were sent of the inside of their store I knew their site wasn't doing them justice. I am very pleased that they had the willingness and openness to listen to my suggestions in Boston. The outcome is a site I'm very proud of.
Howes Diamond Jewelers is also another favorite. Working with the Howes family has always been a pleasure. When Dan asked for a few changes I didn't even have to ask him if he wanted a redesign. I know them well enough and was able to come up with a new design to show them. THEY ALL LOVED IT! And I know it's because I have learned a lot about that family and how they work. Mama Howes (Jan) said "And I thought I loved my website before!" I knew they liked their current design but a face lift really made a difference.
Another favorite is Michael's Jewelry Center. Not because it's a different or unique design, but because Michael told us that he wasn't really happy with his store and is planning on remodeling down the road. So the challenge was to create a site that he liked without showing many store photos. Michael was very happy with what I came up with and how I used his photos. If he didn't explain how he was feeling about the look of his store I wouldn't have been able to create something that works for him.

One of the things that we stress in our industry is that your website can look gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous but unless it represents you in body or soul, it is useless. These are some of my favorite sites because they are owned by customers who clearly understood that concept.
Charlie's Jewelry of Newport News signed with us in 2004. They were never very certain with what they wanted, but they gave us their logo, some color options from our Texture Library that they liked, and put us to work. But the textures just didn't come out right with the their initial design. It went live, but none of us were very satisfied; what wasn't working? About a year and a half later, Lee from Charlie's sent us a new version of their logo. Suddenly it clicked; this was a bone that our designer could put meat on. She created this great navy and gold site together that integrated their unique logo and made a bold, finally complete website. They loved it, and we were all in agreement: this was the site that truly represented their business.
Working with The Diamond Center of Claremont, they also wanted to make sure they incorporated one of their most important brands in their website, keep it clean but striking. I think that Maria captured all of that very well.
